Duties

• Review and analyze medical records, including inpatient and outpatient documentation, to assign correct ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes based on established medical coding guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with health insurance policies and third-party billing requirements while accurately coding for all services rendered.
• Prepare and submit electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) claims for reimbursement, verifying all information for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage the revenue cycle by tracking unpaid claims, following up with insurance providers, and resolving claim denials efficiently.
• Maintain detailed documentation of medical records, coding decisions, and billing activities to support audits and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or resolve discrepancies related to medical coding or billing issues.
• Utilize billing software and EMR/EHR systems to streamline processes, ensure data integrity, and improve overall workflow efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, with familiarity in ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, DRG assignment, and medical terminology.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management strategies.
• Proficiency with billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management.
• Understanding of medical collection processes and insurance reimbursement protocols.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately.
• Knowledge of medical coding guidelines for inpatient services as well as outpatient procedures.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients when necessary.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
