Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records, including documentation from physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to accurately assign ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, and DRG classifications for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Ensure all coding aligns with current medical coding guidelines, insurance requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and submit electronic health insurance claims using billing software and EMR/EHR systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
• Manage the entire revenue cycle process by following up on unpaid or denied claims through insurance third-party billing procedures.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and compliant with privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete information that may affect coding accuracy.
• Stay updated on changes in ICD coding standards (including ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding updates, and health insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, with familiarity using billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, CPT coding procedures, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
• Demonstrated understanding of medical records management, health insurance claim processing, and revenue cycle management principles.
• Experience working with health insurance companies for claim submission and follow-up is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical collection practices and the ability to navigate complex insurance policies enhances your effectiveness in this role.
• Prior experience in a medical office environment or healthcare facility is advantageous for understanding clinical documentation workflows.

Pay: $24.07 - $28.99 per hour
