Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical records, including physician notes, and treatment documentation to accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes.
• Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) to ensure precise classification of diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and guidelines by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of ICD coding standards, medical billing practices, and insurance requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy for optimal reimbursement.
• Enter coded data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist in medical record audits, reviews, and quality assurance processes to uphold coding integrity.
• Support the billing department by providing detailed coded information necessary for accurate medical billing and collections.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical coding, with familiarity in ICD-10 coding systems.
• Strong knowledge of CPT coding procedures along with understanding of DRG classifications.
• Experience with medical billing, collections, and managing medical records within a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with medical office workflows.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical information accurately.
