Medical Coding Analyst

Key Responsibilities

• Review Medical Records: Analyze patients medical documents to ensure all information is accurate and complete for coding.
• Assign Codes: Use appropriate coding systems such as ICD, CPT, and HCPCS to assign correct codes based on the patients' conditions and treatment.
• Ensure Compliance: Follow legal and regulatory guidelines to maintain coding accuracy and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with doctors and other healthcare workers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation and coding.
• Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Protect patient information by adhering to privacy laws and policies in all coding practices.
• Stay Updated: Continuously learn about changes in medical coding standards and healthcare regulations to maintain coding skills and accuracy.

Required Skills And Expectations Candidates should possess attention to detail, as even small errors can lead to billing issues and impact patient care. Strong analytical skills are necessary to interpret complex medical terminology and records. A knowledge of coding systems is essential, though training may be provided. Good communication skills are expected for effective collaboration with healthcare staff. Candidates need a positive attitude and willingness to learn, demonstrating enthusiasm for the role. A background in healthcare, such as BDS, B.Pharma, B.Sc, B.E, or BVSC, is preferred.
