What is the job?

The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for extracting clinical information from a variety of electronic medical record systems to analyze medical documentation and ensure proper assignment of CPT billing selection by utilizing coding guidelines established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Responsibilities:

• Review medical records for accurate coding and documentation.
• Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation.
• Audit coded records for accuracy, compliance, and discrepancies.
• Educate coders on coding and documentation requirements.
• Monitor coding guidelines, regulations, and payer policies.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve coding practices.

Qualifications:

• At least one (1) to two (2) years of experience in Medical Coding in a Hospital or Physician practice environment desired.

• Chart Auditing/Optimization experience reuired.

• EHR/EMR (Electronic Health Record/Electronic Medical Record) experience required.

• Knowledge and understanding of medical coding and billing systems and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of legal, regulatory and policy compliance issues related to medical coding and billing procedures and documentation.
