What they need
Our client is an established, multi-location specialty medical practice in Central Florida. The team is experienced and supportive, and the culture centers on working together for the patient. Leadership is flexible about life outside work, and managers pitch in to cover when someone is out.
About the role
The Insurance Coordinator makes sure every patient's procedure is covered before it happens. You'll own prior authorizations from start to finish, from verifying benefits to getting the approval back to the clinical team. The role is self-directed, but you'll brainstorm with the insurance team when a case gets complicated. It's fast-paced: physicians send quick requests, and patients need clear answers.
What you'll do
- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, imaging and treatment across commercial, Medicare and Medicaid plans
- Verify eligibility and benefits, and explain coverage and patient responsibility in plain terms
- Review and confirm CPT and ICD-10 codes against payer requirements before submission
- Track each payer's rules, medical-necessity criteria and documentation requirements
- Follow up on pending and denied authorizations, including peer-to-peer requests and appeals
- Respond quickly to physician and clinic requests to keep procedure schedules on track
- Communicate with patients by phone and in person with professionalism and empathy
- Partner with front desk, clinical and billing staff to move each patient through their care
What you'll bring
- 2+ years of insurance authorization or verification experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic or surgical setting
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and payer authorization requirements
- Comfort managing a high volume of time-sensitive requests with little supervision
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication
- A team-first attitude: you solve problems on your own but ask for ideas when it helps the patient
Nice to have
- Experience in a surgical or procedural specialty practice
- Epic EMR experience
- Coding or reimbursement certification (CPC, CPB, CRCS or similar)
Why you'll like it here
- Experienced, supportive team
- Monday–Friday daytime hours, no weekends
- PTO that starts accruing on day one (usable after 90 days)
- Flexibility for family and life, with managers who help cover
- A practice-setting pace without hospital bureaucracy
Other offers great for you!
