About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team in Wollongong, NSW. This is a part-time position that plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient experiences. As Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and will be responsible for front-of-house operations, patient interactions, and administrative support. This role is essential to maintaining the efficiency of our practice and supporting our clinical team in delivering outstanding care.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting patients in a warm and professional manner upon arrival at the practice
• Managing patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying information and updating patient records
• Scheduling and confirming appointments, and managing the appointment calendar efficiently
• Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls to appropriate staff members and clinicians
• Processing patient payments and managing cash and card transactions with accuracy
• Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy legislation
• Supporting the clinical team with general administrative requirements as needed

About you

• Proven experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably in a specialist medical practice (references essential)
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Proficiency in medical reception software and data entry
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Reliability and the ability to work as part of a cohesive team
