Medical Receptionist – General Practice

Gisborne Medical Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our growing general practice team in Gisborne.

Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist in a GP/medical practice is essential for this position. We are specifically looking for someone who understands the workflow of a busy medical practice and can confidently support patients, doctors and the clinical team from commencement.

The successful candidate will be professional, reliable, organised and confident managing a busy reception environment while providing excellent patient service.

Key responsibilities include: managing patient bookings and appointments; answering telephone enquiries; checking patients in and out; Medicare billing and claiming; processing payments; managing correspondence, referrals and documents; recalls and reminders; liaising with doctors, nurses, pathology and other healthcare providers; maintaining patient confidentiality; and general practice administration.

Essential requirements: previous medical reception experience, preferably within Australian general practice; good understanding of Medicare and general practice workflows; strong computer skills; excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to multitask and prioritise during busy periods; and a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.

Experience with Best Practice software and HotDoc is highly desirable.

We are looking for an experienced medical receptionist rather than an entry-level applicant. Applicants without previous medical/GP reception experience may not be suitable for this position
