Medical Referral Coordinator

Role Overview: The Medical Referral Coordinator manages referral processes by tracking, documenting, and ensuring timely authorization and appointment scheduling for patients. They communicate with specialty offices, patients, providers, and outside agencies to facilitate referrals and obtain consult reports, closing referral loops effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain, review, and request referrals and authorizations as directed by providers.
• Monitor and document referral statuses in electronic systems.
• Contact patients to confirm appointments and follow up to ensure attendance.
• Communicate with providers regarding referral issues and amendments.
• Serve as a liaison among patients, staff, providers, and external organizations.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all communications and efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or GED; 3-5 years in a medical office setting or equivalent.
• Bilingual in Armenian and English required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and adaptable to new software.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team.
• Comfortable working within regulatory and compliance frameworks.
