Medication Aide

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to residents in our facility. This position is essential in providing high-quality care in environments such as assisted living, nursing homes, and hospitals. The Medication Aide will work closely with nursing staff and caregivers to support the health and well-being of our residents.

Duties

• Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of medication administration, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
• Assist in the preparation and organization of medication carts and supplies.
• Collaborate with nurses and medical staff to ensure continuity of care and address any medication-related concerns.
• Educate residents and their families about medication regimens, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence.
• Participate in training sessions on medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and the use of electronic health record systems such as Cerner.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Medication Aide or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
• Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medication administration practices.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
• Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
• Prior experience in caregiving or working within a medical office setting is a plus.
