Systems Engineer / Tech Lead – Linux, Virtualization & Infrastructure

We are looking for an experienced Medior Systems Engineer / Tech Lead with a strong Linux background to join an international IT and telecom environment.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys designing, improving and taking ownership of large-scale infrastructure. You will have significant influence over the technical direction of the systems environment and work closely with development, networking and telecom/voice teams.

About the role

You will work with a large, predominantly Linux-based infrastructure consisting of 1,000+ hosts, including a significant bare-metal environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and further developing server infrastructure, from operating system level through to the datacenter layer
• Designing and implementing improvements to Linux infrastructure
• Migrating virtualization environments from VMware to alternatives such as Proxmox
• Working with virtualization and container technologies including Proxmox, LXC and Docker
• Taking ownership of and professionalizing infrastructure supporting voice/telecom platforms
• Managing and optimizing storage and backup environments
• Improving infrastructure security and patch management
• Working closely with network, voice/telecom and software development teams
• Supporting infrastructure-related technical decisions and architectural improvements
• Exploring and implementing opportunities involving AI and automation
• Acting as a senior technical point of contact within the systems/infrastructure team

What we are looking for

You are a senior infrastructure professional who enjoys working independently and taking ownership.

You have:

• Strong professional experience with Linux systems administration and infrastructure
• Experience with virtualization, preferably VMware and/or Proxmox
• Experience with containers such as LXC and/or Docker
• A broad understanding of servers, storage, networking and infrastructure
• Experience working with large-scale or production environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently and make technical decisions
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with international teams
• Professional English communication skills

Experience with telecom, VoIP or voice infrastructure is a strong advantage, but not mandatory.
