Axini builds an advanced model-driven software platform that enables organizations to develop and test software faster and without errors. We are in the scale-up phase: our products have proven themselves and we are now scaling up our client base and organization.

We are looking for an experienced, all-round Software Engineer who combines strong technical depth with a genuine enjoyment of intensive client contact. About Axini

Axini originated as a spin-off of the University of Twente. Our goal is to enable the next generation of software development through far-reaching automation with our platform for model-driven engineering.

You can think of our platform as a powerful solution in which specifications are captured in formal languages. Our algorithms can automatically reason about specifications, derive test cases and generate code. With it, we help ProRail, for example, verify the real-time systems that keep trains running 24/7, and Achmea automate complex financial processes flexibly and without errors.

The role

As a Software Engineer you oversee and master the full development process of our SaaS platform: from requirements and architecture to maintenance and cloud ops. From back end to front end. In addition, as a hands-on project or team lead you are the linchpin between technology, your colleagues and the client.

What will you actually do?

• Software architecture: You oversee the technical foundation of our formal testing platform, make well-considered design choices and ensure our codebase remains flexible and future-proof.
• AI integration: You research and help build practical AI applications within our platform that make modeling and test generation more intuitive and faster for users.
• Client interaction as a sparring partner: You genuinely enjoy sitting down with clients. You translate their complex domain questions into formal models, present solutions, monitor progress and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Team guidance and coaching: You guide 2 to 4 colleagues (and graduate students), review code and help team members grow in both technical depth and professional skills.
• Project coordination: You lead 1 or 2 client projects content-wise and ensure realistic planning, high quality and clear alignment with stakeholders.

We mainly work with Ruby and some Rails; specific experience with these is not a hard requirement if you bring broad experience with different programming languages. We develop on Ubuntu with tooling of your choice.

What do we expect from you?

You combine conceptual and academic thinking with a pragmatic 'getting things done' mentality.

• Education & level of thinking: A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or a demonstrably equivalent level).
• Software craftsmanship: Extensive experience developing robust, complex full-stack software, common design patterns, object-oriented programming and CI/CD.
• AI experience: Hands-on experience with AI/LLM applications in software development.
• Enjoyment of client contact & communication: You genuinely enjoy talking with clients and get energy from understanding their real-world challenges. Thanks to your strong communication skills you naturally act as a sparring partner: you switch effortlessly between deep technical detail with engineers and strategic value for stakeholders at the client.
• Leadership: Experience with or a natural talent for coaching colleagues on content.
• Languages: Fluent in both Dutch (our clients are largely Dutch-speaking) and English.

What do we offer?

Salary: A competitive salary between € 3,800 and € 5,500 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on your experience and seniority. A scheme that lets you share in the proceeds when Axini shares are sold, from 1 year of employment.
