Medium and Heavy-duty Technician

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medium and Heavy-duty Technician with at least 3-5 years experience, to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of commercial trucks, industrial machinery, farm equipment, and other heavy-duty systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, utilize advanced diagnostic tools, and contribute to the efficient operation of our fleet and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and HVAC systems using schematics and electronic testing tools.
• Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery.
• Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet repair specifications.
• Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair procedures.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems by interpreting schematics and technical manuals to identify root causes of issues.
• Perform vehicle inspections for safety compliance including air brake tests, wheel alignments, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and suspension repairs.
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs performed, parts used, diagnostics conducted, and service reports in accordance with company standards.

Skills

• Proven dealership or heavy-duty repair experience with a strong mechanical background in automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance.
• Expertise in fabricating parts or modifications using welding, soldering, and metalworking skills.
• Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely under various conditions.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems repair as well as mechanical diagrams for complex machinery.
• Knowledge of diesel mechanics including engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, shocks & struts.
• Skilled in automotive electrical system repair including troubleshooting wiring issues and component testing.
• Familiarity with service technician procedures such as tire service, brake repair, alignment adjustments, HVAC servicing, and power tool operation.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
• Capable of heavy lifting safely while performing repairs or moving equipment; experience with welding or fabrication is a plus.

Pay: $19.00 - $35.00 per hour
