Member Support Associate

What this job is

We deliver medically tailored meals to people on Medi-Cal — many of them older, sick, or managing diabetes, kidney disease, or heart failure. Food shows up at their door because a doctor said they need it.

When something goes wrong, they call us. That's you.

About 28 people a day reach out. Most of it is:

• "My food never came."

• "I need to change my meals."

• "I'm moving — here's my new address."

• "Can you cancel?" or "Can you pause for two weeks?"

• "Am I still eligible?"

You answer them, fix what you can, and hand off what you can't. You work from a queue on a screen; every conversation is tracked so nothing gets lost.

What we actually need

Not a degree. Not experience. We've written this job for someone who hasn't had a job like it before.

• You show up. Every shift, on time. This is most of it.

• You can write a clear sentence. Short, kind, no jargon. Many members read at a basic level, and some read in Spanish.

• You stay calm when someone is upset. A person whose food didn't arrive isn't angry at you. Sometimes they're scared.

• You ask when you don't know. Guessing about someone's medical care is the one thing we won't tolerate. Saying "let me find out" is always the right answer.

• You keep a confidence. You'll see people's health information. It stays at work — that's the law, and we'll train you on exactly what it means.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a real advantage and we'll pay for it.

What you'll learn

This is a job where you find out whether healthcare is for you.

In six months you'll understand how Medi-Cal works, how a referral becomes a delivery, and how to talk to a clinic. People who start here move into intake, dietitian support, operations, or account management. Some go back to school knowing what they want to study. That's a fine outcome.

The honest parts

• It's a screen and a phone, most of the day.

• Some calls are sad. People are sick, and occasionally a member dies. We'll talk about that before you start, not after.

• You'll be trained on privacy rules that are strict and non-negotiable, because the consequences for getting them wrong are real.
