What they need

Position Summary

The Membership Advisor / Welcome Center Attendant serves as the first point of contact for visitors and prospective members. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, providing accurate information about programs and services, processing memberships, and maintaining a welcoming and professional environment. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and comfortable engaging with the public to promote membership options and support overall facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Sales

Sales & Tours is the Y Experience leading practice that equips staff to turn first interest into meaningful connection. It gives teams a clear, cause- driven approach for identifying and cultivating prospects, tracking follow-up with consistency, delivering personalized tours that help people picture themselves at the Y, and inviting them to join with confidence and warmth. At its best, Sales & Tours is not a front-end transaction — it is the beginning of a relationship.

  • Understand a core value of the YMCA that Sales is a Mission, Not a Transaction.
  • Using the ARB Framework we provide information on membership types, benefits, pricing, and promotions.
  • Using the 4-Step Tour Process to turn every tour into a personalized, mission-driven experience.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of membership features to confidently promote and sell memberships. Which includes processing new memberships, renewals, changes, and cancellations accurately.

Community Service

Service at the Y is the action we take to guide the member journey joyfully forward, making the Y the most welcoming place it can be. It is not customer service — it is community service, rooted in love, care, and genuine responsibility for the people in our care. Service is how the Y’s values become visible in every interaction: the greeting, the conversation, the follow-up, and the invitation to go deeper.

  • Greet all members in a warm and professional manner using our Four Principles of Service & our Four Cultural Dimensions approach.
  • Answer questions and assist with the registrations of: programs, services, schedules, and facility amenities
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries promptly and courteously

  • Any and all other duties assigned by your direct supervisor.

Availability

  • This position covers shifts that fall between 11:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m during the week & 9am-3pm on the weekends.
