What they need
The Texas Towing & Storage Association is looking for a Membership Manager to work with our current members, welcome new members, and help more companies get involved with the association.
This is a people-focused position. A lot of the job comes down to staying in touch with members, answering questions, following up, and making sure people know about the programs and resources available to them.
We need someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations, and building relationships with business owners and industry professionals.
What you'll be doing
- Stay in regular contact with current members and serve as a resource when they need assistance
- Reach out to prospective members and provide information about joining the association
- Help new members get started and understand what's available to them
- Follow up on membership renewals
- Keep membership records and contact information up to date
- Encourage members to participate in training, meetings, conferences, and association events
- Answer membership questions by phone and email
- Follow up with members who haven't been active recently
- Develop relationships with towing companies, storage facilities, vendors, and other industry businesses
- Keep track of membership growth, renewals, and retention
- Help with membership outreach and occasional campaigns
- Attend association events and spend time getting to know members in person
- Listen to member feedback and share recurring questions or concerns with leadership
- Help wherever needed when it comes to improving the membership experience
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who genuinely likes working with people and understands that good relationships take consistent follow-up.
You should be organized enough to keep track of conversations, renewals, and outstanding items without needing someone to remind you about every deadline.
You should also be comfortable talking with business owners. Sometimes that means answering a simple question. Other times it means explaining why membership is worthwhile or helping someone figure out which association resource would be useful to them.
A background in association membership would be great, but it isn't the only experience we'll consider. People coming from account management, customer success, business development, partnerships, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, professional services, transportation, or similar work may also be a good fit.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in membership, account management, customer success, business development, partnerships, or similar work preferred
- Strong communication and people skills
- Comfortable making calls and following up with prospective and existing members
- Able to manage several conversations and priorities at the same time
- Good organizational and recordkeeping habits
- Comfortable working with databases, CRM systems, spreadsheets, and email
- Able to attend association meetings, conferences, and other events as needed
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but relevant experience can take its place
Towing or transportation experience is helpful, but we don't want that to keep a strong relationship-focused candidate from applying.
A little about the role
We're not looking for someone to simply process memberships and send renewal notices.
We want someone who gets to know our members, understands why they joined, and pays attention to whether they're getting value from the association.
If you're the kind of person who follows up when you say you will, remembers the details from a conversation, and enjoys turning professional contacts into long-term relationships, you'll probably enjoy this role.
Pay: $72,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
