The Lantern Network is seeking a Software Engineer to mentor a high-potential Computer Science student pursuing a career in backend or full stack development, with long-term interest in mathematically driven technical roles.

About the Mentee

This student is:

• A Computer Science major

• Highly analytical with a strong interest in mathematics

• Aspires to:

• Begin career as a Software Engineer (Big Tech environment preferred)

• Focus on backend or full stack development

• Eventually transition into more advanced, math-intensive roles (e.g., quantitative or specialized technical fields)

• Currently exploring which industry or specialization to pursue within software engineering

He is motivated and technically curious but needs guidance on direction, skill-building, and positioning for competitive roles.

Ideal Mentor Profile

We are seeking professionals with experience in:

• Backend Engineering (APIs, systems, databases, distributed systems)
• Full Stack Development
• Software Engineering in Big Tech or high-growth environments
• Strong problem-solving and algorithmic thinking

Bonus if you have:

• Experience working in mathematically intensive or performance-driven environments
• Insight into transitioning from software engineering into specialized technical paths
