Job Summary

Desert Group is seeking an experienced Senior MEP BIM Modeler / Coordinator to develop, manage, and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across construction projects. The role involves preparing accurate 3D BIM models, coordinating MEP services with architectural and structural disciplines, identifying clashes, and supporting project teams throughout design development and site execution.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in MEP BIM modeling, multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and associated services.
• Prepare and update BIM models based on design drawings, technical specifications, shop drawings, and project requirements.
• Coordinate MEP models with architectural, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
• Perform clash detection and identify conflicts between MEP services and other building systems.
• Coordinate with design engineers, BIM teams, consultants, contractors, and site teams to resolve clashes and technical issues.
• Prepare coordinated shop drawings, sections, layouts, and installation details from BIM models.
• Review design changes and ensure BIM models and drawings are updated accordingly.
• Conduct BIM coordination meetings and track clash reports and outstanding coordination issues.
• Ensure models comply with project BIM execution plans, naming conventions, modeling standards, and Level of Development (LOD) requirements.
• Support quantity extraction and material take-offs from BIM models where required.
• Coordinate with site teams to resolve installation and constructability issues.
• Ensure proper model version control, documentation, and information exchange among project stakeholders.
• Support construction teams during installation, as-built modeling, and project handover.
• Guide junior BIM modelers and coordinate modeling tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Ensure BIM deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted within agreed project schedules.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant MEP BIM experience, including senior-level modeling and coordination responsibilities.
• Strong experience in construction and MEP contracting projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.
• Experience with AutoCAD and BIM collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and coordinated shop drawings.
• Experience resolving clashes and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of BIM execution plans, LOD requirements, and project BIM standards.
• Strong technical coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• UAE construction project experience is preferred.
