About Ovington

Ovington Property Group works across residential development and construction, design, retrofit and property management. Our London projects include new homes, apartment conversions and quality refurbishments.

The opportunity

Provide coordinated MEP and low-carbon energy design for Ovington developments and Ovington Retrofit. Air source heat pumps, solar PV and HVAC are central to this role. Work with our technologist, architects, engineers and installers to deliver buildable, efficient and maintainable systems.

What you will do

• Assess existing services, incoming capacity, energy demand, plant space and project constraints; identify surveys and upgrade requirements.
• Air source heat pumps: prepare heat-loss calculations, size systems and hot-water storage, and coordinate emitters, controls, plant locations and noise considerations.
• Solar PV: assess roof/array layouts and generation, size inverters, consider battery storage and coordinate electrical integration, roof interfaces and grid connection requirements.
• HVAC: design and size heating, ventilation and comfort cooling, including ductwork, air distribution, controls and condensate routes; coordinate noise and maintenance access.
• Within the agreed scope, design water/drainage and electrical distribution, lighting and small power; coordinate services with architecture, structure and reflected ceiling plans.
• Produce calculations, schematics, schedules and tender specifications; review contractor designs and substitutions, attend site and support commissioning and handover.

What you will bring

• Practical design experience in air source heat pumps, solar PV and HVAC, with evidence of calculations, system selection and installer coordination.
• UK project delivery experience. Apartment blocks, build-to-rent (BTR), hotels, aparthotels and refurbishment backgrounds are all welcome; experience in every sector is not required.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent competence; knowledge of English Building Regulations and services standards; appropriate CAD/calculation skills. CIBSE/IET membership and MCS project experience desirable.
• Clear reporting, commercial judgement and an ability to compare energy efficiency, capital cost and maintenance implications.

Scope and application

State which systems you design personally and name any proposed specialist support. Agree design responsibilities for each package; fire strategy and specialist life-safety systems have separate scopes.

Submit your CV/profile, relevant project examples and sample calculations/drawings covering heat pumps, solar PV and HVAC. Include availability, fee basis, location, London travel availability and professional indemnity cover.

Experience:

• UK project delivery: 5 years (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in London
