What they need
Job Description: MEP Construction Manager (Data Center)
Role Overview
We are looking for a high-caliber MEP Construction Manager with 7+ years of dedicated data center experience to oversee the complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure lifecycle for our hyperscale/colocation facilities.
In this role, you will be the primary technical authority on-site for all heavy infrastructure installations. You will lead the coordination between design, sub-contractors, operations, and third-party testing agencies to ensure that our highly resilient facilities are built, integrated, and fully commissioned to achieve 100% operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Infrastructure Oversight
- Manage the on-site installation, integration, and testing of all heavy MEP systems, ensuring cross-trade synchronization (e.g., matching mechanical cooling load requirements with electrical power distribution and controls).
- Electrical Scope: Oversee high-density power paths including MV/LV switchgear, multi-megawatt UPS topologies, backup generators, STS, and busway distributions.
- Mechanical Scope: Supervise complex cooling plants, including industrial chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, continuous loop chilled water piping, and sophisticated DX systems.
- Plumbing/Fire Protection: Manage leak detection frameworks, fuel oil storage/transfer systems, and critical fire suppression (e.g., pre-action dry-pipe, gas-based clean agent systems).
Commissioning & Quality Management
- Act as a core stakeholder during Levels 1 through 5 Commissioning (Cx) , strictly driving the project through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and final site handovers.
- Perform meticulous constructability reviews of design packages, single-line diagrams, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to mitigate field clashes.
Subcontractor & Schedule Control
- Direct and coordinate multiple tier-1 MEP subcontractors, enforcing schedule milestones, manpower levels, and material logistics (especially long-lead equipment logs).
Required Qualifications & Experience
⚠️ Mandatory Requirement: A minimum of 7+ years of progressive construction management experience strictly focused on Tier III / Tier IV data center environments or equivalent mission-critical infrastructure.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of data center redundancy principles ($N+1$, $2N$, $N+2$), ASHRAE thermal guidelines, National Electrical Codes (NEC), and Uptime Institute standards.
- Software Tools: High proficiency with Procore, Navisworks (for BIM clash detection), Bluebeam, and scheduling software (Primavera P6 or MS Project).
