MEP Draftsman

1. Job Purpose

The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing, developing, and updating detailed Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings for interior fit-out projects. The role involves coordinating MEP layouts with architectural and interior design drawings, ensuring technical accuracy, resolving drawing discrepancies, and supporting site execution in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable authority requirements.

2. Roles and Responsibilities

A. MEP Shop Drawings and Drafting

• Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings for commercial, residential, retail, hospitality, office, and other interior fit-out projects.
• Develop HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, ducting, and air-conditioning layouts as required by the project.
• Prepare electrical lighting, power, small power, emergency lighting, and containment layouts.
• Prepare plumbing, drainage, water supply, and sanitary layouts.
• Prepare fire alarm, firefighting, and other ELV system layouts in coordination with relevant engineers and specialist contractors.
• Develop reflected ceiling plans showing the coordination of lighting fixtures, air-conditioning diffusers, sprinklers, smoke detectors, speakers, and access panels.
• Prepare sections, elevations, schematic diagrams, details, and installation drawings as required.
• Update drawings based on site conditions, engineer comments, consultant feedback, and approved design changes.

B. Coordination with Architectural and Interior Drawings

• Coordinate MEP drawings with architectural layouts, interior design drawings, joinery details, ceiling plans, and structural drawings.
• Identify and resolve clashes between MEP services, ceilings, partitions, bulkheads, joinery, and other building elements.
• Ensure proper coordination of service routes, equipment locations, ceiling voids, access clearances, and maintenance requirements.
• Attend coordination meetings with project engineers, interior designers, consultants, and site teams when required.
• Incorporate approved design revisions and maintain consistency across all drawing packages.

C. Site Coordination and Technical Support

• Conduct site visits and surveys to verify existing conditions, dimensions, service routes, and installation constraints.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on actual site installation and verified measurements.
• Assist the site team in interpreting shop drawings and resolving drafting-related technical issues.
• Revise drawings to reflect site instructions, approved variations, and actual installation requirements.
• Coordinate with MEP engineers and supervisors to ensure drawings reflect practical site execution requirements.
• Support the preparation of material coordination drawings and installation details.

D. Authority and Consultant Submissions

• Prepare and revise MEP drawings for consultant review and approval.
• Incorporate comments received from consultants, clients, and relevant authorities.
• Assist in preparing drawing packages in accordance with applicable Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence, DEWA, and other relevant authority requirements, where applicable to the project.
• Maintain proper drawing references, revision numbers, submission records, and approval status.
• Ensure that drawings are submitted through the appropriate review process and that the latest approved revisions are available to the site team.

E. Documentation and Drawing Control

• Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy records of drawings, revisions, and technical submissions.
• Follow the company's drawing numbering, naming, revision, and document control procedures.
• Maintain coordination between design, submission, construction, and as-built drawings.
• Ensure obsolete drawings are identified and not used for site execution.
• Assist in preparing final as-built drawing packages and handover documentation.

F. Quality, Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure accuracy, completeness, dimensions, levels, annotations, legends, and drawing references.
• Follow project specifications, approved material selections, design intent, and applicable codes and standards.
• Highlight discrepancies, missing information, and potential installation conflicts to the responsible engineer.
• Coordinate access panels and service clearances to support maintenance and safe operation.
• Ensure that drawings are checked and approved by the responsible engineer before construction where required.

Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED6,000.00 per month

Education:

• Bachelor's (Preferred)
