What they need

MUST-HAVE — READ BEFORE APPLYING

You must hold an active, unrestricted Professional Engineer (PE) license in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING issued by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. NO EXCEPTIONS.

We will not consider:

  • EIT / FE-passed candidates
  • PE licenses in other disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, fire protection)
  • PEs licensed in other states who are "planning to" or "eligible to" apply for Nevada comity
  • Applications pending Nevada licensure
  • Degree-only candidates, however experienced

Your Nevada PE license number must be included in your application. Applications without it will not be reviewed.

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer to serve as Engineer of Record for HVAC, plumbing, and gas systems on our Nevada and multi-state project portfolio. You will produce and seal permit-ready mechanical, plumbing, and energy compliance documents, resolve plan review corrections, and coordinate directly with our architectural, structural, civil, and electrical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record; stamp and seal mechanical, plumbing, and gas drawings and calculations for Nevada projects
  • Design HVAC systems — load calculations, equipment selection and scheduling, ductwork layout and sizing, ventilation, exhaust, and makeup air
  • Design plumbing systems — domestic water, sanitary and vent, storm, gas piping sizing, water heating, and fixture unit calculations
  • Prepare energy code compliance documentation (IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, Title 24 where applicable) and mechanical code compliance narratives
  • Perform kitchen and food-service mechanical design including Type I/II hood exhaust, makeup air, and grease interceptor sizing
  • Produce full construction document sets in AutoCAD and/or Revit, including schedules, details, notes, and specifications
  • Respond to plan review comments and correction letters from AHJs; attend agency meetings as needed
  • Coordinate with architects, structural, civil, and electrical engineers to resolve system conflicts before issue
  • Perform construction administration — submittal and shop drawing review, RFI responses, and site observation
  • Review and mentor junior designers and drafters, and QA/QC their production before sealing

Required Qualifications

  • Active Nevada PE license in Mechanical Engineering — mandatory, no exceptions (license number required in application)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 5+ years of building systems (MEP) design experience in a consulting or design firm environment
  • Working command of the IMC, IPC, IFGC, IECC, IBC, NFPA 96, ASHRAE standards, and Nevada/Clark County amendments
  • Demonstrated experience taking projects through plan review and permit issuance
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP
  • Proficiency with load calculation and energy modeling software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, Elite, or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and hit permit deadlines
  • Must be able and willing to get licensed in other states as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional PE licensure in other states, or NCEES Record for comity
  • LEED AP, CEM, or similar credential
  • Experience with commercial tenant improvements, restaurant and food service, multi-family residential, senior care, or medical occupancies
  • Experience with fire protection coordination and sprinkler system design review
  • Familiarity with Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, and City of North Las Vegas review processes

What We Offer

  • $35.00-$45.00 per hour.
  • Reimbursement for PE license renewals, NCEES Record, additional state licensure, and continuing education
  • Direct ownership of projects and a short line to firm leadership
  • A growing multi-state portfolio and the ability to build out the mechanical department

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
