MEP Engineer

About the role

Developer-side role overseeing project MEP works. Cover electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection and ELV systems.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the developer in managing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review construction drawings, shop drawings and coordinated services layouts; resolve design clashes with architectural, structural and MEP teams.
• Prepare and review MEP work schedules, and monitor contractors' progress, quality, safety and site housekeeping.
• Review technical submissions for materials, equipment and samples; inspect deliveries, installation quality and workmanship.
• Organise or participate in concealed works inspections, testing and commissioning, defect rectification and completion inspections.
• Coordinate with designers, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors and relevant authorities on technical issues and inspection requirements.
• Review variations, site instructions, quantities and contractor submissions; assist the cost and QS teams with related cost assessments.
• Follow up on as-built drawings, test reports, equipment documentation and technical documents required for the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant MEP experience; experience in large property developments, hotels, apartments or mixed-use projects is preferred.
• Experience with a developer, project management consultancy or main contractor; developer-side experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of MEP construction, drawing reviews, site coordination, quality inspections, testing and commissioning.
• Understanding of Malaysian building regulations, MEP requirements and CCC procedures; local authority coordination experience is an advantage.
• Able to use CAD independently to review drawings.
• Good planning, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to communicate in Mandarin and English for coordination with project stakeholders; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
• Responsible and able to work on site in Genting Permai and meet project milestones.
