About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer with 10–15 years of relevant experience to support the coordination between the Client and Design Office for building projects.

The role will be responsible for MEP design review, technical coordination, providing engineering input, reviewing design deliverables, and ensuring effective coordination between MEP disciplines and other engineering disciplines.

The ideal candidate should have strong multidisciplinary knowledge covering Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, and associated building services, with proven experience in engineering consultancy and design review.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical coordination point between the Client and Design Office for MEP-related matters.
• Review MEP design deliverables and provide technical comments, recommendations, and clarifications.
• Coordinate with the Client to understand project requirements, design criteria, technical expectations, and changes.
• Communicate Client requirements to the Design Office and monitor their incorporation into design deliverables.
• Review MEP drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, design reports, and technical submissions.
• Review HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and other building services designs for technical adequacy and coordination.
• Coordinate MEP systems with Architectural, Civil, Structural, and other disciplines.
• Identify design discrepancies, clashes, omissions, and interface issues.
• Review design packages at concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC stages.
• Consolidate design review comments and coordinate responses with the Design Office.
• Track comments, responses, revisions, and technical issues through to closure.
• Participate in design review and coordination meetings with the Client, Design Office, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical input and engineering recommendations during design development.
• Review proposed design changes and assess their technical and multidisciplinary impact.
• Review MEP equipment selections, system layouts, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Ensure MEP designs comply with applicable Saudi Building Code, local authority requirements, project specifications, and relevant international standards.
• Review technical submissions, material specifications, equipment schedules, and design documentation.
• Provide technical clarification and support in resolving design-related issues.
• Support the Client in reviewing alternative design proposals and value-engineering options.
• Review MEP coordination drawings and identify potential installation and constructability issues.
• Coordinate MEP requirements with architectural spaces, ceiling voids, shafts, plant rooms, risers, and service areas.
• Support the resolution of technical RFIs and design-related queries.
• Monitor the progress and quality of MEP design submissions.
• Maintain records of design review comments, technical queries, responses, and approved design changes.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and coordinate with the wider engineering team.

MEP Technical ResponsibilitiesHVAC

• Review HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, chilled water systems, ventilation, and mechanical layouts.
• Review HVAC design for performance, space requirements, coordination, and constructability.

Plumbing

• Review domestic water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, pumping, and associated plumbing systems.
• Review hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment schedules, and plumbing layouts.

Electrical

• Review electrical design interfaces related to MEP systems, including power requirements for mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate electrical requirements for HVAC, pumps, fire systems, and other mechanical equipment.

Fire Protection

• Review fire protection and fire-fighting system layouts and coordination requirements.
• Coordinate fire protection requirements with architectural, structural, and MEP systems.

Client & Design Office Coordination

• Coordinate directly with the Client and Design Office on MEP technical matters.
• Review and consolidate Client comments before issuing them to the Design Office.
• Follow up with the Design Office on outstanding design review comments.
• Review responses and revised drawings to verify that comments have been properly addressed.
• Attend regular design coordination and technical review meetings.
• Assist in resolving conflicting requirements between different disciplines.
• Escalate critical technical issues requiring Client or management decisions.
• Ensure effective communication and timely closure of MEP design issues.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant MEP discipline.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in MEP design, design review, engineering consultancy, or multidisciplinary project coordination.
• Strong experience in building MEP systems.
• Proven experience in design review and technical coordination.
• Experience coordinating between Client and Design Consultant / Design Office.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and building services interfaces.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
• Experience reviewing drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code and Saudi authority requirements is preferred.
• Saudi Arabia / GCC project experience will be highly preferred.
• Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical issues and coordinate timely resolution.
• Engineering consultancy experience is preferred.
• Immediate joiners are highly preferred.

Software Skills

Proficiency in relevant engineering and coordination software, including:

• AutoCAD
• Revit MEP / BIM
• Navisworks
• MS Office
• Knowledge of relevant MEP design and calculation software will be an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced MEP Engineer with strong multidisciplinary building-services knowledge and proven experience in design review, technical coordination, and Client–Design Office coordination.

The candidate should be capable of critically reviewing MEP design deliverables, identifying technical and coordination issues, providing practical engineering input, and ensuring that Client requirements are properly incorporated into the design.

Candidates with Saudi Arabia / GCC experience and immediate availability will be preferred.
