MEP Estimator

1. Cost Estimation:

   • Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems based on project specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
   • Analyze and evaluate plans, specifications, and addenda for all MEP components.

2. Project Coordination:

   • Collaborate with design, engineering, and project management teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
   • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the scope of work and address any concerns.

3. Supplier and Subcontractor Management:

   • Identify and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers for MEP components.
   • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to ensure competitive and accurate cost proposals.

4. Documentation:

   • Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, including breakdowns of labor, materials, overhead, and profit margins.
   • Prepare and submit detailed bid packages for review by project stakeholders.

5. Analysis and Reporting:

   • Conduct value engineering analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
   • Provide detailed reports and presentations on estimated costs and project viability to management.

6. Continuous Improvement:

   • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to MEP systems and estimating.
   • Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and tools.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience as an estimator for MEP systems in the construction industry 6 to 8 years.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection.
• Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g. Bluebeam, Plan swift, or equivalent).
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst - CCEA) are a plus.
