MEP Procurement Engineer

will be responsible for managing procurement activities related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) materials, equipment, and services for construction projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, supplier and subcontractor coordination, cost control, and the ability to ensure timely delivery of materials in accordance with project specifications, approved budgets, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for MEP materials, equipment, and related services for construction projects.
• Review project drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, material submittals, and procurement schedules to identify project requirements.
• Prepare and issue requests for quotations (RFQs) to suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate quotations, compare technical and commercial offers, and prepare bid comparison sheets for management approval.
• Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive prices and favorable payment terms.
• Coordinate with project managers, MEP engineers, quantity surveyors, estimation teams, and site personnel to ensure procurement requirements are met.
• Ensure that all procured materials and equipment comply with project specifications, approved material submittals, applicable standards, and client requirements.
• Monitor procurement schedules, purchase orders, manufacturing progress, and delivery dates to ensure timely availability of materials at project sites.
• Negotiate prices, delivery terms, warranties, payment conditions, and other commercial terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, procurement reports, and related documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Follow up on material approvals, technical clarifications, and supplier documentation in coordination with the relevant engineering and project teams.
• Identify alternative materials and suppliers where appropriate, subject to technical compliance and consultant/client approval.
• Monitor market prices, material availability, and supplier performance to minimize procurement costs and project delays.
• Resolve procurement-related issues, including delivery delays, material shortages, quality concerns, and discrepancies in supplied materials.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience, including at least 3 years working on similar construction projects involving MEP systems.
• Proven experience in procuring MEP materials and equipment for building construction projects.
• Good knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical installations, plumbing and drainage systems, fire protection systems, and other relevant MEP materials.
• Familiarity with technical specifications, BOQs, material submittals, approved vendor lists, and construction procurement procedures.
• Strong skills in supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, commercial negotiation, and cost comparison.
• Knowledge of local and international MEP suppliers, manufacturers, and market conditions in Qatar is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using ERP or procurement management systems.
• Good communication, coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple procurement requirements, and meet project deadlines.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
