WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

You will join the commercial team on major building or infrastructure projects where MEP packages form a significant share of overall value. Typical scopes include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services, often with complex interfaces and demanding programmes.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with project leadership, services managers and engineering teams, as well as clients and a broad specialist subcontractor base. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take commercial responsibility for MEP packages on major building or infrastructure projects
• Lead the procurement of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services subcontracts, including tender analysis, negotiation and award
• Administer subcontracts, managing payment claims, variations and compliance with local security of payment legislation
• Support head contract administration, including progress claims and variation submissions
• Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts, cost value reconciliations and monthly commercial reporting
• Identify and manage commercial risk and opportunity across MEP scopes
• Work closely with services managers and engineers to align commercial and technical delivery
• Negotiate and agree subcontract final accounts

WHAT YOU NEED

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS specialising in MEP, within a main contractor or MEP specialist
• A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical packages on large, complex projects
• Experience on commercial, health, infrastructure or mission-critical projects is highly beneficial but not essential
• Working knowledge of UK contract forms such as NEC or JCT; familiarity with Australian forms such as AS4000 is an advantage but not essential
• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; MRICS or AIQS membership desirable
• Strong negotiation, reporting and stakeholder management skills
• Genuine commitment to relocating to Australia on a long-term basis
