MEP Technical Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced MEP Technical Engineer to support the technical, engineering, documentation, and coordination requirements of MEP projects in Abu Dhabi.

The candidate will be responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing technical submissions, coordinating MEP services, resolving technical issues, and ensuring that all MEP works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable UAE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
• Review and coordinate MEP shop drawings and technical drawings.
• Prepare and review Material Submittals, Method Statements, RFIs, and Technical Submittals.
• Coordinate MEP services with civil, architectural, structural, and other disciplines.
• Identify technical discrepancies and coordinate suitable solutions.
• Review MEP drawings for clashes and constructability issues.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
• Provide technical support to site engineers and construction teams.
• Ensure MEP installations comply with approved drawings and project specifications.
• Assist with authority and consultant approvals where required.
• Review equipment and material technical specifications.
• Assist in preparing testing and commissioning procedures and documentation.
• Review technical requirements for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other MEP systems.
• Prepare technical responses to site queries and RFIs.
• Maintain proper records of drawings, approvals, submittals, inspections, and technical correspondence.
• Assist the project team in resolving technical and coordination issues.
• Monitor technical progress and ensure documentation is submitted within project deadlines.

Technical Areas

Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

Electrical:

• LV systems
• MDB/SMDB/DB
• Lighting and power
• Cable trays and containment
• Earthing and lightning protection
• Fire alarm and ELV systems

Mechanical:

• HVAC systems
• Chilled water systems
• Ventilation and exhaust systems
• Plumbing and drainage
• Fire fighting systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant MEP technical experience.
• UAE/GCC project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MEP drawings, specifications, and construction practices.
• Experience with shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Knowledge of BIM/Revit/Navisworks is an advantage.
• Good understanding of UAE construction standards and authority requirements.
• Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Arabic-speaking candidates are preferred.
• Candidates currently available in the UAE are preferred.
