Merchandiser

Role & responsibilities

Purpose of the Role

To manage buyer requirements from order confirmation to final delivery by coordinating with internal departments (production, planning, quality, sourcing) and ensuring timely execution as per buyer expectations.

Preferred candidate profile

Key Responsibilities

Order Management

• Handle buyer enquiries and convert them into confirmed orders
• Prepare and monitor Time & Action (T&A) calendar
• Track Buyer Purchase Orders (PO) and ensure adherence to delivery timelines

Coordination & Follow-up

• Coordinate with production, planning, fabric, and trims teams
• Follow up on BOM (Bill of Materials), approvals, and sampling stages
• Monitor fabric and trims inward status

Sampling & Approvals

• Manage development stages: proto, fit, PP sample, etc.
• Ensure timely submission and approval from buyers

Production Monitoring

• Track bulk production status and highlight delays
• Ensure alignment with buyer TAT (Turnaround Time)

Communication

• Act as the single point of contact between buyer and factory
• Share regular updates with buyers and internal teams

Documentation

• Maintain records of:

• Orders & contracts

• BOM details

• Approval comments

• Dispatch details

Quality & Compliance

• Coordinate with QA team for inline and final inspections
• Ensure product meets buyer specifications and quality standards

Skills Required

• Strong communication & negotiation skills
• Good knowledge of garment/fabric processes
• Planning and coordination ability
• Problem-solving mindset
• Proficiency in Excel / MIS reporting

Qualification & Experience

• Graduate (Textile / Fashion preferred)
• 2-5 years experience in merchandising (textile/garment industry)
