JOB TITLE: MERCHANDISER

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Merchandiser to join our retail team. The Merchandiser will be responsible for ensuring that products are properly displayed, adequately stocked, attractively arranged, and available to customers at all times.

The ideal candidate should have good product awareness, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrange and display products on shelves, racks, and designated sales areas according to company merchandising standards.
• Ensure shelves are properly stocked and products are readily available to customers.
• Monitor product quantities and promptly report low-stock or out-of-stock items.
• Check product expiry dates and ensure products are rotated using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method where applicable.
• Ensure products are correctly labelled and prices are clearly displayed.
• Maintain attractive, clean, and organized product displays.
• Monitor product placement and ensure fast-moving and promotional products receive appropriate visibility.
• Assist with promotional displays, seasonal campaigns, and special product arrangements.
• Conduct regular shelf checks to identify damaged, expired, misplaced, or defective products.
• Report damaged, expired, or missing products to the appropriate supervisor.
• Monitor competitor product displays and pricing where required.
• Assist with stock counts and inventory checks.
• Work closely with the Store, Sales, Inventory, and Operations teams to ensure effective product availability and presentation.
• Ensure merchandising activities comply with company policies and operational standards.
• Provide basic product information and assistance to customers when required.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance while on duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or management.

Requirements

• Minimum of OND/NCE/BSC; relevant qualifications in Marketing, Business Administration, Retail Management, or related fields are an advantage.
• Previous experience in merchandising, retail, supermarket operations, sales, or a related role is preferred.
• Good knowledge of product placement and retail merchandising practices.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
• Must be physically fit and able to stand and move around the store for extended periods.
• Must be willing to work according to the company's shift/duty roster.
