Merchandising Manager, Wayfair Curated Merchandising / AllModern

As a Merchandising Manager, you will develop and execute category strategy, assortment plans, and product curation for one of two portfolios: Wayfair Curated Merchandising or AllModern. Each role owns a distinct category portfolio.

On Wayfair’s Curated Merchandising team, you will own Kitchen & Dining Furniture, Home Office, and Accent & Entertainment Furniture across Wayfair.com and our growing physical retail store fleet. As an AllModern Merchandising Manager, you will manage the Casegoods category and bring the brand’s style and vision to life across its marketing and retail channels.

In either role, you will lead a team of 3 direct reports and act as the customer’s representative in strategic decisions. You will combine product knowledge, commercial judgment, and customer and business insights to curate high-performing assortments and drive category results. You will partner with internal teams and suppliers to ensure the strategy is executed all the way to the customer.

What You’ll Do

*

People Leadership & Team Development: Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of direct reports. Set clear performance goals, hold team members accountable for execution, provide continuous feedback, and support their career growth.

*

Category Strategy & Assortment Planning: Build, maintain, and refine data-driven annual, seasonal, and ongoing assortment plans. Identify opportunities for category growth and assortment gaps; develop product offerings that reflect customer needs, brand vision, quality, and appropriate price points; and rationalize low-performing or duplicate products.

*

Category Expertise & Market Analysis: Develop a deep understanding of your assigned category, customer, and competitive landscape. Guide regular competitive analysis and use customer needs, market trends, and internal performance to identify opportunities and inform decisions. For furniture categories, apply knowledge of product construction, materials, finishes, quality standards, and pricing architecture.

*

Product Curation & Presentation: Own category assortment and presentation across relevant channels, including digital, catalog, social, and physical retail.

*

For Wayfair Curated categories, evolve the Wayfair Verified strategy and partner on productive store assortments, shelf-space decisions, and customer experiences.

*

For AllModern, bring the brand aesthetic and customer base to life through product selection and presentation.

*

Business Performance: Monitor category performance and financial KPIs, including revenue, margin, conversion, average order value, returns, and inventory availability. For physical retail, evaluate shelf-space productivity, sell-through, and store-level assortment performance. Translate insights into clear actions that improve results.

*

Priority Product Optimization: Monitor the performance and presentation of key products. For furniture categories, work across product content, dimension accuracy, assembly specifications, imagery, customer reviews, pricing competitiveness, and in-stock availability to improve the customer experience and conversion.

*

Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships. Lead supplier meetings and business reviews; identify opportunities to improve pricing, product specifications, assortment, exclusivity, and inventory; and support supplier participation in relevant Wayfair programs and major shopping events.

*

Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution: Partner with teams across Brand Management, Category Management, Planning & Allocation, Sourcing, Creative, Marketing, Analytics, Visual Merchandising, Store Operations, and other functions to execute category plans and deliver a seamless customer experience.

*

Operational Excellence & Technology: Use analytics and modern merchandising workflows to improve research, planning, and decision-making. Stay curious about emerging technology, including GenAI, and identify ways it can support the team’s work.

What You’ll Need

*

Approximately 5-7+ years of experience in an e-commerce or corporate retail organization, preferably in buying, retail merchandising, category management, assortment planning, or product development.

*

Management experience and a demonstrated ability to coach, lead, and develop team members.

Strong commercial and analytical judgment, including the ability to interpret sales and performance trends and apply insights to the business.

*

Experience building assortments and understanding how brand vision, customer needs, product, and competitive trends come together.

*

Strong supplier relationship and negotiation skills, including comfort leading business discussions with senior-level supplier partners.

*

A passion for product, style, and design. Furniture or home-furnishings knowledge is strongly preferred.

*

Excellent written and verbal communication, cross-functional influence, organization, and prioritization skills; ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion.

*

Familiarity with e-commerce and, ideally, physical retail, shelf-space planning, or visual merchandising.

*

Curiosity about analytics and emerging technology, including GenAI, and a willingness to apply them to merchandising work.
