Merchant

Our Rhode Island based jewelry client is looking for a Merchant with 3+ years' experience for an immediate hire; this role is onsite Monday-Friday and 40 hours per week. Looking for previous experience with jewelry and accessories and experience with CAD and Photoshop is a plus for this role.

• Drive merchandising strategy and assortment plans for merchandise category and channels
• Collaborate on concept development with Design to ensure assortment meets cost structure(s)
• Think creatively about packaging and presentation
• Analyze product performance, market conditions and feedback from customers continuously
• Update assortment, identify and suggest opportunities based on analysis; research trends, trend spotting, and interpret trends based on how they relate to the customer.
• Partner with Design, Production, and Sales to ensure execution to time-and-action calendar and timely delivery of goods, sales growth, and attainment of margin goals
• Raise and identify quality and technical issues and suggest solutions
• Contribute to category forecasting and ensure progress toward established financial goals.
• Present product line to supervisors
• Actively participate in review meetings, including edits, board review, pre-costing, line reviews, adoption, and post-market review.
• Communicate and follow up with internal and external vendors and audiesnce including customers, suppliers, vendors and licensors

Looking for: 3+ years of experience in costume jewelry, accessories, and/or hair goods merchandising or buying; relevant experience in said categories

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• CAD and Photoshop experience a plus
• Proficient experience and understanding of costume jewelry merchandising, fashion and design. Identifying trends and interpreting them based on client needs
• Ability to identify voids in customer assortments and identify white space.
• Entrepreneurial drive tempered by judgment and strong leadership skills
• Superior organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail oriented and meticulous
• Proficient knowledge of fashion costume jewelry construction
