Merchant Onboarding Specialist

At MSS Pay, we're looking for a Merchant Onboarding Specialist who can make that experience easier.

You'll be one of the people helping new merchants get from their initial application to an active, working payment account. Along the way, you'll answer questions, organize important information, follow up on outstanding items, and make sure nothing gets overlooked.

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with people, pays attention to the small details, and takes satisfaction in getting things across the finish line.

A Typical Day Might Include

• Welcoming new merchants and explaining what to expect during onboarding.
• Reviewing merchant applications and checking that required information is complete.
• Collecting and organizing supporting documents for account setup.
• Following up with merchants about missing information or outstanding requirements.
• Coordinating with sales, underwriting, technical support, and account management teams.
• Tracking applications and keeping merchant records accurate and up to date.
• Helping merchants understand account setup steps and payment-processing requirements.
• Monitoring onboarding progress and addressing delays before they become bigger problems.
• Assisting with account activation and coordinating equipment or software setup when needed.
• Responding to merchant questions by phone and email.
• Maintaining clear notes and updates in internal systems.
• Suggesting improvements that make the onboarding experience simpler and more efficient.

The Background That Could Work Well Here

You may have worked in banking, customer service, financial services, account administration, SaaS onboarding, or another role where accuracy and communication matter.

We're looking for someone with 1–3 years of relevant experience who is comfortable managing multiple accounts or requests at once.

Experience with merchant services or payment processing is helpful, but it isn't required. We're more interested in someone who learns quickly, follows through, and can explain processes in a way that makes sense to customers.

You'll also need strong organizational skills, confidence using computer systems, and the ability to handle sensitive business information responsibly.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Additional education in business, finance, or a related field is a plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
