MERN Full Stack Developer

MERN / Next.js Full Stack Developer will build secure, scalable, and high-performance digital platforms using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in modern frontend development along with solid backend engineering, API design, database optimization, distributed systems concepts, and scalable architecture. The developer should also be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.

Experience in fintech, payments, lending, or transaction-heavy platforms will be a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

1. Full Stack & Platform Development

• Build scalable applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Develop modern web applications using Next.js, React, Server/Client Components, routing, and reusable component architecture.
• Build modular backend services with clear separation of concerns and maintainable architecture.
• Apply SOLID principles, clean code, design patterns, and reusable abstractions where appropriate.
• Write production-grade, testable, and well-documented code.

2. Backend Engineering & Advanced Architecture

• Design scalable backend architectures using appropriate modular monolith, microservices, or service-oriented patterns.
• Apply advanced Node.js concepts including event loop behavior, asynchronous programming, concurrency, streams, worker threads, and efficient resource management.
• Design reliable workflows using message queues, event-driven architecture, background jobs, and asynchronous processing.
• Implement idempotency, retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, rate limiting, graceful degradation, and fault-tolerant patterns.
• Understand distributed system concepts including eventual consistency, service communication, race conditions, distributed transactions, and failure handling.
• Design systems for horizontal scalability and high availability.

3. APIs, Databases & Integrations

• Design secure, versioned, and well-documented REST APIs and service integrations.
• Integrate payment systems, financial services, third-party platforms, and internal services.
• Design efficient MongoDB schemas, indexes, aggregation pipelines, and queries.
• Understand database transactions, atomicity, concurrency, consistency, locking, and data integrity.
• Implement effective caching strategies using Redis and similar technologies.
• Apply API best practices including validation, pagination, idempotency, standardized error handling, and backward compatibility.

4. Security, Performance & Reliability

• Implement secure authentication, authorization, RBAC, validation, encryption, secrets management, and data protection.
• Follow OWASP and secure coding practices, particularly for financial and sensitive customer data.
• Optimize APIs, database queries, caching, memory utilization, and application response times.
• Prevent common issues such as N+1 queries, memory leaks, race conditions, duplicate transactions, and inefficient database operations.
• Build reliable logging, audit trails, health checks, monitoring, and alerting.
• Design systems considering high-volume transactions, concurrent workloads, failure recovery, and data consistency.

5. Cloud, DevOps & Observability

• Work with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understand containerized deployments, environment management, configuration, and application scaling.
• Implement application monitoring and observability using structured logging, metrics, tracing, and error monitoring.
• Support production deployments, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and performance troubleshooting.
• Write unit, integration, and API tests using Jest, Vitest, Supertest, React Testing Library, or equivalent.

6. AI-Enabled Engineering

• Use modern AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or equivalent for development, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring.
• Leverage AI for code analysis, test generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and development acceleration.
• Use AI-assisted development responsibly while maintaining security, code quality, architecture standards, and engineering judgment.
• Stay current with emerging AI-assisted engineering practices and developer tooling.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Express.js, React.js, Next.js, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, data structures, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and API design.
• Experience with Redis, message queues, background processing, WebSockets, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, query optimization, and data consistency.
• Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, fault tolerance, caching, and high-availability concepts.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, RBAC, API security, and secure data handling.
• Experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, logging, monitoring, and observability.
• Strong debugging, system-design, and problem-solving skills.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional full stack development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js, Next.js, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and TypeScript.
• Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade, scalable applications and backend services.
• Experience designing APIs, databases, integrations, and scalable application architectures.
• Experience with fintech, banking, payments, lending, digital wallets, e-commerce, or other transaction-heavy platforms will be a strong advantage.
• Experience building systems involving financial transactions, KYC/KYB, payment integrations, reconciliation, ledgers, workflows, or sensitive customer data will be considered a plus.
