MES System Engineer

Our client, a leading company in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, is looking for an MES System Engineer to support and enhance Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions across regulated manufacturing environments. This role combines technical expertise in Manufacturing IT/OT systems with a strong understanding of GMP requirements, supporting the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of digital manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve MES standards, templates, best practices, and system architecture across manufacturing sites.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for MES applications, including troubleshooting, performance monitoring, incident management, and system optimization.
• Support MES implementations, upgrades, enhancements, deployments, and lifecycle management activities.
• Ensure GMP-compliant electronic batch records, manufacturing workflows, and system documentation are maintained according to regulatory requirements.
• Create, review, and maintain GxP documentation, including functional specifications, risk assessments, validation documentation, change controls, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with Automation, IT, Quality, Validation, and Manufacturing teams to deliver MES solutions aligned with business needs.
• Support system integrations between MES, ERP, automation platforms, historians, and other manufacturing applications.
• Participate in commissioning, qualification, validation, and system release activities.
• Identify opportunities for process digitalization, standardization, and continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
• Ensure system reliability, data integrity, cybersecurity compliance, and adherence to internal and regulatory standards.
• Support audits, inspections, and periodic reviews related to MES platforms and electronic records.

Must-Haves:

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience with MES, Manufacturing IT, OT, or automation systems in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environment.
• Hands-on experience with MES platforms such as PAS-X, Syncade, PharmaSuite, Opcenter , or similar systems.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, electronic batch records, and batch execution workflows.
• Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and operational support activities.
• Familiarity with GMP, GAMP, Data Integrity, and Computerized System Validation (CSV) practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing system architecture, OT infrastructure, industrial networks, virtualization technologies (VMware), and server environments.
• Understanding of integrations between MES, ERP, historians, and automation systems.
• Experience with GxP documentation, change management, and regulated environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles within manufacturing and pharmaceutical operations.
• Fluent English is required; German is considered a strong advantage.
