Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mess Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the college hostel mess, ensuring quality food service, hygiene, cost control and smooth operations for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage complete day-to-day operations of the college hostel mess.
• Plan and monitor daily menus based on nutritional requirements and student preferences.
• Supervise kitchen, catering and mess staff.
• Ensure food quality, hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards are strictly maintained.
• Monitor food procurement, inventory, storage and consumption.
• Control food wastage and maintain effective cost management.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely procurement of food materials.
• Maintain daily records of meals served, stock, purchases and consumption.
• Handle student feedback and resolve food-service-related concerns.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and applicable statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with the Hostel/Warden and Administration teams.
• Conduct regular inspections of kitchen, dining areas, equipment and storage facilities.
• Ensure proper manpower deployment and shift management.
• Prepare operational reports and submit them to management.

Mandatory Requirements

• Previous experience with Sodexo is mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mess/catering/food-service operations.
• Experience in institutional catering, college/university hostels, hospitals, corporate campuses or large-scale facilities is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, inventory and cost control.
• Good team-management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage high-volume food-service operations.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with experience as Sodexo Mess Manager / Assistant Manager / Catering Manager / Food Service Manager / Hospitality Manager will be preferred.

Education

Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Catering or a related field preferred.
