Job Summary: The Metadata Management Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the bank's critical data accessibility, understanding, and trustworthiness. This position involves collaborating with business and technology partners to document and maintain essential information about the bank's data, including definitions, ownership, sensitivity, and usage. The consultant's work will strengthen regulatory compliance and audit readiness while supporting informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Bring new business areas, reports, and data assets into the catalog consistently.
• Run training and awareness sessions, and create simple guides to encourage adoption of the enterprise data catalog.
• Gather business feedback and recommend improvements to metadata processes and catalog use.
• Apply metadata standards and minimum documentation requirements across business areas.
• Support audit and regulatory requests by providing documented, traceable evidence about data.
• Identify ways to reduce manual effort and improve the efficiency of metadata processes.

Mandatory Skills

• 5+ years of experience in data governance or metadata management, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Proven experience using an enterprise data catalog, including glossary, stewardship, and critical data management.
• Strong understanding of business metadata, data ownership, and critical data element practices.
• Familiarity with banking data expectations such as BCBS 239 and audit readiness.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with Alation Cloud Service.
• Familiarity with industry frameworks such as DCAM or DAMA-DMBOK.
• Exposure to data lineage and data quality practices.
• Experience contributing to governance dashboards or executive reporting.

This role is essential for ensuring that the bank's data is well-governed and effectively utilized across the organization.
