Metal Stamping Set-Up Specialist, Small Press Operations
Based in: Saint Paul, MN | Department: Operations | Employment: Full-time | Compensation: $28–$36/hr
Our mission
Build quality parts, safely and reliably, every time. As a Small Press Set-Up expert, your craftsmanship powers customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
Picture yourself here
You’re at a small press cell, materials staged and labeled. A fresh setup is ready. You verify specs with calipers, align tooling, and bring the press online. The first-off part checks out to print. Mid-run, a defect appears—you pause, analyze the die and press, and coordinate with Toolroom and Maintenance. You log the root cause, update the work instructions for next time, and enter production and quality data—keeping the area clean, safe, and audit-ready.
How you’ll contribute
- Read/interpret blueprints, job routings, and work instructions
- Independently set up and operate small stamping presses to achieve quality and efficiency targets
- Install basic tooling; prepare presses and materials for production runs
- Perform precision measurements (calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to validate specifications
- Apply and develop root cause analysis skills; engage Toolroom/Maintenance for timely repairs
- Drive ideas for process improvements that enhance quality and throughput
- Inspect incoming materials and finished parts to confirm conformance
- Accurately tag/label materials for identification
- Complete routine maintenance and sustain a clean, organized workspace
- Capture setup details and author clear work instructions for repeatability
- Record production and quality data in the company’s data collection system

- Partner with teammates to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
