Metallurgy Engineer

As Metallurgist Engineer you will be responsible in providing technical support to engineering and operations functions within the Material Handling Plant, Flash Furnaces, and Anode Plant. This includes conducting in-depth analyses of machine performance and processes, inspecting and analysing product quality to minimize rejections, and fostering a culture of quality, safety, and sustainability while imparting technical training to operators.

Some of your duties include:

·       Train to provide technical support to engineering and operations in relation to the Material Handling Plant, Flash Furnaces, and Anode Plant through in-depth analysis of machine performance and processes.

·       Train to inspect and analyse product quality to identify variances from specifications and assist in corrective actions to minimize rejections.

·       Promote and uphold a culture of quality, safety, and sustainability, and deliver technical training to operators.

·       Work as an understudy to FSF/FCF leadership to learn and contribute to:

o   Analysing and reporting efficiency indices during shift operations in respective process plants.

o   Conducting QA/QC of inputs and outputs and reporting variances.

o   Analysing and reporting performance of existing installations.

o   Analysing and reporting implementation of SOPs and WIs.

·       Assist in the preparation and implementation of the annual predictive maintenance plan, including shutdown activities, in coordination with the engineering teams.

·      Support technical analysis and performance review of machines and processes within the Material Handling, Flash Furnace, and Anode Plants under supervision.

·       Report and recommend corrective measures for product quality variances in consultation with senior engineers or supervisors.

·       Promote adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards among operational teams and conduct basic technical training sessions for operators.

·       Collect, analyse, and submit efficiency and QA/QC reports for review by FSF/FCF leadership.

·       Monitor and document equipment performance and SOP/WI implementation status to assist senior engineers in process improvement initiatives.

·       Coordinate with engineering teams in executing predictive maintenance plans and planned shutdown activities as part of learning and development.

Some of the qualifications include:

·    Graduate in Chemical Engineering; Mineral Processing; Pyrometallurgy; Metallurgical Engineering; Process Engineering

·    Having 1-3 years in smelter operations

·    Be able to analyse machine and process performance data to identify efficiency gaps and improvement opportunities.

·    Be able to conduct product quality inspections and analyse test results to detect variances and assist in corrective action implementation.

·    Be able to apply safety, quality, and sustainability standards in daily operations and promote best practices among operators.

·    Be able to perform basic QA/QC procedures on plant inputs and outputs and prepare accurate variance reports.

·    Be able to assess the performance of installations and assist in monitoring compliance with SOPs and Work Instructions.

·    Be able to participate in the planning and coordination of predictive maintenance and shutdown activities in collaboration with engineering teams.

·    Be able to prepare technical reports and present findings clearly to FSF/FCF leadership for review and decision-making.
