Meter & Billing Lead Engineer

Climate17 is pleased to be working with a growing heat network engineering, operations and sustainability business to appoint a Meter & Billing Lead Engineer .

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer / Metering Engineer to take a lead role investigating and resolving metering, billing and data issues across communal and district heat networks.

You’ll combine hands-on technical troubleshooting with team leadership, client interaction and project delivery , helping improve the accuracy, reliability and performance of heat network metering systems.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of meter-related repairs and investigations, working closely with customers, clients, billing teams, field operations and technical engineers to diagnose issues and deliver effective solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Investigating and resolving faults with utility and heat metering equipment.
• Carrying out meter inspections, testing, repairs, replacements and commissioning.
• Managing AMR setup and connections to client systems.
• Investigating inaccurate readings, consumption data and billing discrepancies.
• Working with systems including Connect, Kurve, Elvaco and Guru .
• Leading and supporting engineers across metering repair and improvement activities.
• Managing project programmes, budgets and technical delivery.
• Liaising directly with clients and customers to resolve technical and billing issues.
• Identifying meter faults, tampering, damage and safety concerns.
• Maintaining accurate technical, repair and commissioning records.

About You

We're looking for an experienced electrical or metering professional with a strong technical and diagnostic background.

You'll ideally have:

• Electrical Engineering qualification, with NVQ Level 2 or 3 .
• Experience in meter maintenance, repairs, utilities or billing .
• Practical experience with AMR systems and metering data .
• Knowledge of systems such as Connect, Kurve, Elvaco or Guru .
• Experience leading engineers or technical teams.
• Strong understanding of building services and M&E environments.
• Experience managing projects, programmes and budgets.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities.
• Excellent client, customer and stakeholder communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Experience within communal or district heat networks, HIUs, BMS or occupied residential environments would be highly advantageous.
