Meter Reader - Kaitaia

About the Role

Looking for a role that keeps you active and gets you out and about each day? Join our Meter Reading Services team and help deliver an essential service to local communities.

 As a Meter Reader, you'll travel throughout Kaitaia reading electricity and gas meters. Every day is different as you work across a variety of locations, enjoy being outdoors, and meet customers (and occasionally their pets) along the way.

 This role offers a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per fortnight, with opportunities to work additional hours depending on workload and demand. During busier periods, some fortnights may provide up to 70 hours of work. Hours are generally worked Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work required.

What You'll Be Doing

• Reading electricity and gas meters accurately and efficiently
• Recording meter readings using a handheld device
• Driving between assigned routes and walking between properties
• Providing friendly and professional customer service when interacting with residents
• Working safely and following all company health and safety procedures

What We Are Looking For

You'll be motivated, energetic, and confident working outdoors in all weather conditions. While you'll work independently, you'll be expected to work within established processes and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

To be successful in this role, you'll also have:

• A full New Zealand driver's licence (essential)
• The ability to walk approximately 5 to 6 kilometres per day
• The ability to frequently get in and out of a vehicle and navigate uneven terrain
• Confidence and comfort around dogs and other household pets
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Flexibility to work additional hours during busy periods
