You will report directly to the Technical Manager and work as part of our Technical Team.
Key responsibilities

- Planning and coordinating first-article and sample casting trials
- Reviewing trial results, dimensional outcomes and casting quality before production release
- Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Calculating casting weights and assisting with manufacturing cost estimates and quoting
- Investigating casting defects and analysing daily reject information to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Maintaining accurate manufacturing methods, technical records and supporting documentation
- Working closely with production, quality, patternmaking and finishing teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes
About you
- A degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline
- Alternatively, relevant technical qualifications combined with substantial industry experience
- Experience within a foundry, casting operation or similar manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- An understanding of casting processes, solidification principles and defect analysis
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Experience with casting simulation software
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate technical records
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with production and technical teams
What we offer
- Remuneration dependent on experience
- Full-time, permanent position
- Monday to Friday working week
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Long-term employment stability
- Opportunity to work in a specialised technical role within an established Tasmanian manufacturing business
- Work closely with experienced production, quality and technical teams
- Safe and supportive working environment
- Opportunity to contribute directly to process improvement and the development of Castings Tasmania’s manufacturing capability
