Metrology Engineer

Location: Birmingham

We're seeking an experienced Metrology GD&T Engineer on a contract basis. This role will focus on making sure incoming components are to specification and fit for manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming components using CMM or Optical Measuring Equipment.
• Review engineering drawings and assess the application of GD&T.
• Define and refine datums, tolerance schemes and dimensional requirements.
• Identify tolerance issues that could affect assembly, function or manufacturability.
• Work with design, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve dimensional queries.
• Support inspection planning and help ensure drawings can be measured consistently.
• Communicate technical findings and recommended changes clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong practical experience applying GD&T to engineering drawings.
• Experience measuring components using optical measurement systems (CMM).
• Experience working with manufacturing and inspection teams to resolve dimensional issues.
• Automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
