Metrology Specialist, Optimus

What To Expect The Metrology Specialist will ensure that incoming and in-process material meet company specification requirements, by performing inspections of individual components, stampings, castings, and supplier parts related to the Tesla Powertrain. The effective candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and can work independently. Candidates must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams at all levels across the company. Candidates need to be able to balance multiple projects requiring varying skill sets in highly dynamic and diverse working environment. They must be able to work independently, but also be a top contributor in small and large groups. The Metrology Specialist will work closely with Quality Engineering to provide reports, charts, graphs, etc. to monitor and improve product quality.

What You'll Do- Operation of Portable CMM equipment to support monitoring of production processes, commissioning of new productions and root cause activities

• Experience with Polyworks to carry out portable special measurement requests, portable tooling measurements within the production line

• CATIA or 3D CAD experience to work with native files as well as STEP and IGES to compare collected measurement data to nominal condition

• Liaise with Engineering and Manufacturing functions to understand measurement requirement for special investigations, developing correct datum scheme, collection of scan data and detailed reports to communicate key findings

• Certify fixtures in production line according to calibration schedule and report data comparing to historical measurements What You'll Bring- Inspection Experience; experience using Polyworks, CAD: CATIA or 3D CAD

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment

• Previous mechanical inspection background with ability to use structured light scanning systems, laser trackers and/or FARO arms preferred

• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings

• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.

• Understanding of GD&T

$30.50 - $44.84/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
