MFA Venue Assistant Technical Coordinator

This is a year-round, part-time position averaging 25 hours per week. The schedule is made up of

a combination of regularly scheduled and flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to

support events. It is not benefit-eligible.

What you’ll do:

• Help to maintain the facilities and equipment of the Mitchell Fine Arts Center, with a focus on

stage and performance-related areas.

• Train and manage student and professional crews.
• Mix audio, set/design lighting for events, operate fly systems, maintain organizational

systems, and collaborate with various departments across campus.

• Oversee and manage events in the Technical Coordinator's absence.
• This role requires a high level of critical thinking with the ability to anticipate risks. This is a highly

active and hands-on position, with approximately 80% of working time spent throughout the

facility on projects or events, both with crews and independently. This includes working overhead

at heights and in small spaces.

What you bring:

• Bachelor of Arts in Theater/related field or three years of experience in the live entertainment/

performance industry is required.

• Ability to work with theatrical control systems.
• Supplemental training and certifications such as specific control systems, rigging, basic first aid,

diversity-equity-inclusion training, box office management, and other applicable certifications

and education are desirable.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the

Technical Coordinator.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff across campus.
