Role & responsibilities

Job Description for the COBOL Contractor positions.

• Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
• 6+ year’s development/enhancement experience.
• Good Knowledge of MF-COBOL, JCL, Sort/Cosort, Linux/Unix, Shell scripting, Subversion, or similar code repository
• Knowledge of database- Oracle/DB2, etc and SQL
• Knowledge of XML, CICS etc. is an added advantage.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Understand, functional and technical requirements of software programs/ modules.
• Ability to work in an agile development environment where developers and testing personnel work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
• Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills working with technical and non-technical individuals.
• Develop and document optimal codes for complex program requirements.
• Develop codes for assigned unit of work/requirements within a program/module – functional & nonfunctional.
• Ensure delivery of defect free codes to the next level or review/ QA team
• Possess strong understanding of coding best practices.
• Adhere to timelines and processes while developing and documenting codes.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
• Ensure compliance to pre-defined coding best practices to meet quality and timelines of delivery.
