About the role
You will run the microbiology testing that shows our products are safe and meet TGA and export requirements. You will own the microbiology laboratory routine, environmental monitoring and microbial investigations.
Key responsibilities

• Perform microbial limit tests, organism identification and preservative efficacy testing on raw materials, in-process and finished products.
• Run environmental monitoring of manufacturing areas and water systems.
• Lead investigations into microbial excursions, with root cause and corrective action.
• Manage culture collections, media preparation and sterility controls.
• Verify and validate microbiological test methods.
• Keep microbiology records compliant with GMP and data integrity requirements.
• Train production staff on hygiene and aseptic practice.

Essential requirements

• Bachelor of Science in microbiology or a related field.
• At least two years' experience in a GMP-regulated microbiology laboratory.
• Working knowledge of pharmacopoeial microbial test methods (USP, Ph. Eur. or equivalent).
• Experience with environmental monitoring and water system testing.
• Strong attention to detail in records and investigations.

Desirable

• Masters or PhD in microbiology.
• Experience with rapid microbiological methods.
• Probiotic, supplement or food manufacturing experience.
• Food safety or HACCP certification.

• Calm when a sample fails and clear about the next step.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
