Global Environmental Lab (Pvt) Ltd is a premier testing and analytical laboratory dedicated to ensuring quality, safety, and compliance across environmental, food, and industrial sectors. We are currently seeking a qualified, detail-oriented Microbiologist to join our growing laboratory team.

Job Summary

The Microbiologist will report directly to the Head of Laboratory (or designee) and perform microbiological testing and quality control activities within the laboratory’s approved testing scope, strictly adhering to standard operating procedures and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Microbiological Testing: Conduct routine and advanced microbiological analysis of drinking water, wastewater, food, food products, and packaging materials using approved methods.
• Testing & Techniques: Perform Total Plate Count (TPC), yeast and mould counts, total coliforms, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus testing using membrane filtration, plating, enrichment, and confirmation techniques.
• Sample Integrity: Verify sample identification, condition, and suitability; maintain traceability and proper storage holding times; report unsuitable samples promptly.
• Media & Reagents: Prepare, label, and store culture media, diluents, and reagents while maintaining strict sterility checks, batch logs, and expiry records.
• Equipment Management: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves), complete scheduled monitoring checks, and report faults immediately.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Apply required quality controls, maintain authorized reference cultures, follow ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines, and participate in proficiency testing and audits.
• Data & Documentation: Record observations, counts, and test calculations accurately; prepare results for technical review in compliance with quality systems.
• Biosafety & Housekeeping: Maintain rigorous aseptic practices, ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and manage biological waste disposal safely.
• Workflow Management: Plan testing to meet scheduled turnaround times, monitor consumable stocks, protect client confidentiality, and support continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related science discipline.
• Experience: Proven hands-on laboratory experience in food, water, or environmental microbiology testing.
• Skills: Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 standards, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), strong analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu.
