Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant to drive end-to-end ERP implementations, upgrades, and operational enhancements for our client. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between executive business strategy and technical execution. You will analyze complex business requirements, design optimal financial and operational workflows, configure native Business Central modules, and guide stakeholders through seamless system adoption. You will work closely with department heads, project managers, and technical AL developers to deliver high-performing ERP solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead Discovery & Analysis: Facilitate business process reviews (BPR), gather business requirements, perform gap analyses, and map complex client operations to native Business Central functionality.
• System Setup & Configuration: Hands-on setup and configuration of core Business Central modules, including General Ledger, AP/AR, Inventory, Sales/Purchasing, Fixed Assets, and Manufacturing/Jobs.
• Reporting & Data Insights: Build custom reports, financial statements (Account Schedules / Financial Reports), layout designs (Word/RDLC), and Power BI dashboards to deliver actionable operational metrics.
• Data Migration & Testing: Lead data migration streams (RapidStart / Configuration Packages, data cleansing, master record imports), orchestrate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and troubleshoot functional bugs.
• User Training & Go-Live Support: Conduct role-tailored end-user training, craft standard operating procedures (SOPs), and provide hypercare support during cutover and post-go-live phases.
• Developer Collaboration: Partner with AL Developers to draft functional design documents (FDDs) for custom extensions, web API integrations, and third-party ISV solutions.

What You’ll Need

• Proven Track Record: 5+ years of hands-on functional consulting experience, with a focus on full-cycle implementations of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (and/or Dynamics NAV).
• Core Module Mastery: Deep functional expertise in core Business Central areas, particularly Financial Management, Supply Chain, and Inventory/Warehouse Management.
• Reporting & Tools Expertise: Proficiency with Business Central Financial Reports (Account Schedules), Configuration Packages, Word/RDLC layout editing, and standard Excel integrations.
• Methodology & Project Leadership: Thorough understanding of structured ERP implementation methodologies (e.g., Sure Step, Agile), business process modeling, and change management.
• Client-Facing Communication: Exceptional workshop facilitation, presentation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.

What Will Set You Apart

• Microsoft Certifications: Active MB-800 (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant) certification.
• Vertical Industry Expertise: Deep functional background in Manufacturing, Distribution, Field Service, or Construction/Project Accounting verticals.
• Partner / VAR Experience: Background working within a Microsoft Partner/VAR environment managing concurrent client implementations.
• Power Platform & Analytics: Experience creating custom Power BI reports connected to Business Central, or designing automated flows using Power Automate.
