Job Description: Part‑Time Cloud Computing Advisor (Microsoft Fabric / Data Warehouse Implementation)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Computing professional based in India to provide high‑level architectural and implementation guidance for a Microsoft Fabric–based Data Warehouse project. The engagement is for a US‑based Alternative Investments firm , with an initial duration of 2-3 months and potential extension up to 12 months . This is a part‑time consulting role requiring 15-20 hours per week to begin with, and 5–15 hours per week subsequently .

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on the overall architecture, design, and implementation strategy for a Microsoft Fabric Warehouse environment.
• Guide the team on best practices for data ingestion, transformation, governance, and security within Fabric.
• Review existing data flows, schemas, and pipelines; recommend improvements aligned with industry standards.
• Provide direction on integration with upstream and downstream systems , including cloud storage, analytics tools, and reporting platforms.
• Offer strategic input on performance optimization, scalability, and cost management in the cloud environment.
• Support decision‑making around data modeling for alternative‑investment use cases (fund structures, portfolios, transactions, performance metrics).
• Conduct periodic technical reviews and provide actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure smooth execution of the project roadmap.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7–12+ years of experience in Cloud Computing , with strong exposure to Azure .
• Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Fabric , including:
• Data Warehouse
• Lakehouse architecture
• Data Pipelines
• OneLake integration
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles , ETL/ELT frameworks, and modern data‑platform design.
• Experience working with financial‑services or investment‑management data (preferred but not mandatory).
• Ability to provide strategic guidance rather than day‑to‑day execution.
• Excellent English communication skills and comfort working with distributed teams.
